The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology has a pretty neat parking garage. Everyone likes the old fashioned brick and sandstone buildings from the original parts of the school. but this is definitely the most interesting part for me. There is even a soccer field on top!

It’s a Toronto landmark, and it’s older than the Flatiron in NYC. There are a million photos of this building but I haven’t seen one that looks quite like this. I don’t want to get so used to the way things are that I forget about all the wonderful things around me.

I originally started following Devon on Instagram and was amazed at his images.  After realizing he also had a WordPress site and viewing his work I quickly contacted him and asked if he would contribute to Monochomia.  I strongly suggest you visit his site to view his work.

This is an old photo. But I really love the mood created by this bridge.
Some say the grass is always greener on the other side. They were right in this case – there’s a golf course on the other side. LOL

My name is Devon and I grew up in Calgary, Alberta but I now live in Toronto, Ontario. Although I miss the mountains and the west coast I don’t think they don’t figure into my favorite subject matter. I live to take late night architectural, cityscape and street photography. I very rarely shoot during the day as I feel a special affection for the city at night.

I am rather a late comer to the world of photography I have only been actively and enthusiastically shooting for the last couple years or so. Prior to taking up photography I had hardly even used the camera on my phone. A chance trip to Iceland really ignited my interest in this hobby and art-form as I found myself monopolizing my travel partner’s camera, much to their chagrin.

Shooting in Black and White at night is a special challenge, finding a balance between bright artificial light and deep dark shadows. Monochrome can expose people to the places they inhabit every day in a way they have rarely seen before. It can also strip familiar places of their identity allowing me to create a new and mysterious streetscape.

I hope you enjoy my images, thank you. If you would like to see more of my work please visit my website – here or on Instagram – devon_mac
