Fond memories © Steven Willard
Some images you just like because they bring back fond memories. This photograph was made when my very good friend Dave Woodruff, whom I had known since high school, came for a visit from Austin, Texas. He died, not long after this trip, of brain cancer. He never complained. One of the nicest guys you would ever hope to meet. We were good friends for over fifty years and I still miss him.

The image does stand alone, Steven, but I always appreciate some back story.
So sorry about your friend

Thanks C.S. I never did buy into the notion that a photograph MUST stand on it’s own. I’ve always believed that more information about an image will never detract from it, and might help the viewer get more from it.

A lovely tribute, Steven, and a beautiful image in which to honor your good friend. I agree with Joe, photographs help us remember.

Wonderful image Steven 😀 I recall part of a conversation we were having yesterday with you saying a certain person remembers time and places by restaurants. Its strange how we also remember photographs by which friends we were with us at the time it was taken. Sorry to hear you lost a very good friend. Beautiful work.
