As usual Joe, your photos have such great clarity and contrast. Tell me, do you know this prior to taking the photo i.e. are you aware that the colours in this scene will really work in B&W or is it your post processing that helps pull out contrast and clarity.

Thank you very much Mark 🙂 When I think an image will look better in black and white I will switch the Fuji into Black and White mode and use the LCD or electronic viewfinder to preview the shot and check the range of tones. Then I will switch the camera back to color and take the shot so I have both the color or black and white. If I am positive an image will look better in black and white I will just leave the camera in that mode. I do increase the clarity and the contrast in most of my images but not a lot.

Well done, one of the best images here in this blog, I hope that it will get as much likes as it deserves. This picture unites calmness, silence and the dynamic of a fast moving / rotating pottery wheel.

Thank you very much Joerg 🙂 Coming from a photographer/artist of your caliber I take that as high praise 🙂

Thank you very much Omar 🙂 I wanted to convey motion in the shot so I had to use a slow enough shutter speed to show the turntable spinning and yet maintain sharpness in the remainder of the image. Needless to say it took me a couple of shots 🙂
