I’m working on preparing an image for submission with the subject being long exposure. We have several wood pulp plants in the area and I thought they would make for an interesting composition. Although technically strong, I feel that a little more wind would have created longer steam trails and been more what I wanted to capture.
Canon 5DS, ISO 100, 75mm, f/9.0, 30 sec, twiddled about in Adobe Lightroom and Silver Efex Pro 2.

Love this! These shots are not easy. So well done!

Thank you, it was fun getting the shot. But there’s more to how I got the shot that is not mentioned. That’ll be discussed in another blog post.

This is an awesome image David 🙂 You can see the movement of the steam trails but I understand what you describe about more wind. I use the Lee Big Stopper (10 stop ND) and the Super Stopper (15 stop ND) in the Lee Seven5 system. I’ve had success with the Super Stopper but the 15 stop version is really made for time exposures in bright sunlight. Enough with my rambling though I love your image great work.

After taking those images, I picked up a variable ND filter that goes to 10. Hope to play with it tomorrow. Your 15 sounds like fun.
