Well, the search continues here in the west. This is the third weekend in a row we have taken the 3 hour trip to Zion in hopes of finding autumn colors. No luck so far. But, what we have found is a new appreciation for the beauty that is Zion. So, next weekend we will be making the trip again. My fear, though, is that by then the temperature will drop so quickly that the leaves will fall even before getting the chance to show off their colors.
So, I meant to share a few images from this past weekend but decided I must share this image first. It made me think of my grandfather and how much he appreciated Western movies and would have appreciated this conestoga wagon, parked in front of a tourist shopping center on the way to Zion. As I’ve mentioned in my About page, I believe he ended up here in the west because he always liked the films of Sergio Leone. What I didn’t mention is that he would fall asleep most times to the music from The Godfather. An Italian of limited interests, my grandfather!

You’d never know its parked outside a tourist shopping center, Emilio! Great framing – it looks out in the middle of nowhere, appropriately so!

Well, the shopping center was out in the middle of nowhere, if that helps.

Strange place for a shopping center 🙃

I think they positioned themselves to be the first souvenir place as you near Zion- and the last as you leave.

Imagine tracking across the country in one of these all those years ago . . . . better luck with the leaves next time Emilio but great fun trying.

True. Great fun trying. A failure again this weekend but still some great shots along the way.

Perhaps the fourth weekend will bring success! Wait! Is this the fourth weekend?
I always enjoy the stories that accompany your photos, Emilio!

Thanks, Laurie! This was the fourth weekend. Next weekend being Thanksgiving I don’t know if we’ll be going up there again. I think we’ve been elected to cook this year!

Well, Joe, even though he saw The Godfather about 300 times (I rounded it off) he never actually fell asleep to the movie but to the music from the movie. He had me buy the soundtrack for him one year. And I do enjoy the lens. Thank you.

Great shot Emilio and I’m glad to see you used the new lens. I’m an Italian of limited interests also but I never fell asleep during the Godfather, LOL. “Leave the gun, take the cannoli’s”. Great work.
