Disneyland For Adults

Emilio

mirage-5There was a time that Las Vegas was called “Disneyland For Adults”. Now it is merely “Sin City”. Either name is an insult! An insult to Walt Disney, an insult to sin!

Please stop by my personal site Photos By Emilio and say hello when you have a minute!

Wow, Emilio! And, again, wow! I love the gritty, dark, almost spooky look you gave this. Could be an opening for a cinematic mystery or a cover for a murder mystery, aka “Murder in Sin City” or “Something Wicked This Way Comes” πŸ˜€ Fantastic composition AND processing!

Thanks, Stacey. Excuse me while I go get a towel to dry off from all this gushing! πŸ™‚ is that what I sound like when I praise your videos?

I’ve been trying to bring a different perspective to Las Vegas and am 6 months into documenting the strip in daylight! Night shots will follow, one day. Meanwhile thank you for your great comment!

Disneland for adults, Sin City… how much time before it becomes a ghost town, when all the snow in the mountains will have melted and when there will be no more water ?

a great shot and the post processing makes is even greater

All the snow HAS melted and there is no water. But not to worry. We’ll just steal it from other outlying districts. Why do you think this is a desert? It used to me a lush meadow. Really! But they’ve over built and continue to do so, all the while cutting funding on schools. Makes sense to me! See what you’ve started? Thanks, Fernan for the great comment! πŸ™‚

Planning to head out to the south-west to see that part of the continent… wondering if it’s such a good idea… it’s a long driveMontreal to Santa Fe, San Diego, San Francisco and back, difficult however to resist the call… just the thought of wasting that much petroleum to get there, contributing to increasing the water problem… but my curiosity is still overlording my social conscience for now… thinking about it

Fernan, social conscience be damned. There are so many things we do that can never make a difference to the big picture but only help to make us feel better. Can I help with the lack of water if I must bathe and drink to survive? Perhaps you could travel by train (I have and love it) or fly, then hire an automobile? I don’t know, but refusing to travel because of a fear of wasting petroleum is not living. I am not saying to ignore the problems with waste and pollution to our planet. But one must travel to more fully understand what is happening with our world. Do not miss San Francisco before you leave this place for good! That is one of my favorite cities!

I just visited your store, Laura. Beautiful job. And beautiful images. SmugMug has some great layouts. I’m on Squarespace but am not happy. Based on what you’ve accomplished, I might just move when my subscription is up!

Thank you Emilio! I do love SM but I didn’t like their store. So in LR I pasted an html link in the caption of each photo, uploaded each photo to Fine Art America and then republished all the images in LR which now create that hyperlink in SM to each photo in FAA. If you do that you only pay $8/month for SM and only $30/year for FAA! Don’t you love acronymns????? LMAO! πŸ˜‰

OK, WT…? I now have no idea what you said or what you did. So when I’m ready I’m going to have to get you to set it up for me! πŸ™‚ And then you’ll have to charge me and it will probably end up being too expensive and….

There is some grand architecture there. But I never feel like any of it is real, more like a stage set!

I’ve never been there, but I’ve seen the place in plenty of movies and on “Cops”. So, based on that, all I know about the Strip is that the casinos never close, there’s a bunch of whores there, but prostitution is illegal. There’s also a lot of drugs (but that’s illegal too) and that there’s nothing Hunter S. Thompson about The Strip anymore.
I think that your photo makes the place look awesome in a post-apocalyptic style: “The Strip goes Chernobyl”.

All you say is true. But the prostitutes do not really frequent the strip itself. And there are legal brothels less than an hour away in Pahrump (a neighboring town). I’m sure I could find prostitutes and drugs in any city of today!
