  1. How in the world were you able to grab this shot? Just sitting there with your finger on the shutter release, waiting? You must be fun at dinner!

  2. Thank you so much Stacy! I met H & C after I took a shot of them sitting together on the stairs where they looked so good together. This was one of the shots afterwards, they were great fun!

  3. Love the graininess of the photo, Patti. It works so wonderfully with the subject and the mood of the scene. Like Elina, I too noticed the ring and the watch, but admittedly missed the sign (good catch!). Did you take this shot before meeting them or after? Just wondering because their interaction seems so comfortable, with no hint of you being there. I am amazed at how you were able to catch such detail with just the light from the lighter!

  4. This scene is just wonderful Patti! Lots of lovely details… her face and arm, his tattoos, ring and watch. At a closer look I noticed the sign ‘do not sit on the steps’ 🙂

  5. Now lt it be said I’ve never smoked. Never wanted to try either. However I will admit I find it facinating people get so hooked. Pure picture wise I like the light in this shot. The tattoed arm and the grainy low light add a nice edge to the shot.

    1. You have saved yourself so much money and grief David! I suppose each generation has to discover the facts for themselves . . . . So pleased you enjoy the shot. Perhaps I should have titled it along the lines of it being a “dark and grainy night . . . .”

  6. I’m not a smoker, but there is an intimacy implied in the lighting of someone else’s cigarette. That intimacy combined with the slow glow of light on her face is conveyed in this photo.
