Spring brings certain simple pleasures along with the warming weather. One of my favorites is the emergence of the pussy willows. There is that brief period when they break open to expose the little fuzzy precursor to the actual leaf. When harvested in this state and kept dry, they will last for months. However, if you add water to the container they will continue their natural path to leafing out.

Simple, but powerful composition. Love the extreme foreground subject tonality over the gray out of focus background!
