This fellow reminded me of my dad. I don’t know if it was his time in the Army during WWII, the effects of the Great Depression, or maybe it’s just my imagination, but it seems to me that he and other folks of that era drank coffee in a more serious manner; almost like the devout drinkers one sees in neighborhood bars before lunch. I’d be interested to know what his reaction would be to Starbucks and other trendy coffee bars where one can spend more on a cup of coffee than he once earned in a day.

I think my dad would have been surprised by the prices but happy that he could get a “dependable” cup of coffee just about anywhere. The public wi-fi and restrooms a bonus.

Great image Steven 🙂 It is pretty amazing how much Starbucks charges for their Latte but their Grande Pike (normal large size coffee translated to English) is only two dollars, LOL. Yet despite the prices they charge other gourmet coffee companies are also thriving. When I compare the salary my father made back in the day to the salary I made before I retired I should have been a millionaire. Somehow things didn’t work out for me though. Wonderful work and Happy New Year Steven.
