Six-Pack Dreams

20140920-untitled shoot-6-Edit-Edit

I’ve tried a little humour for this weeks post. My previous shots have been a little on the darker side. This shot is cropped on the righthand side I once read somewhere that if it is cropped it’s not a street shot. I don’t abide by such rules, It’s my image I’ll do as I please. I Still I think it made for a nice shot and tells a story. What do you think?

  1. You can certainly feel the weight of thought going through this little boy’s mind!

I love reading all the guff about street shooting, specially from the younger kids who know so much. And talk so much. The old gits however just get out there and keep shooting like they always have. With their mouths shut!

    1. Thanks for commenting Elina. I read the “rule” ,if you can call it that somewhere and, I can’t, to be honest think where. However I won’t be putting too much effort into searching for it :0)

  2. Perfect title, David, for a great, fun photo! If you hadn’t mentioned it had been cropped, we would have been none the wiser. That we now know? Still works for me 🙂 And the boy’s wistfulness just radiates from the image!

  3. It’s a wonderful image which does tell a story. One can imagine what might be going through the boy’s mind as he looks at the ‘six-pack’. Reminds me of my son when he was young and used to dress up as a superhero!

Regards rules: if we all abided by photographic rules, we would come up with very similar images which would be boring and soul-destroying. For me, rules get in the way of creativity.

  4. I have sixpack dreams just like this kid. And what gets to me is who makes up these effen rules. I want to crop the street shot it’s still a street shot if you took it on the street. And this is a beautiful example.
